Tackling the Challenges of Adult Health and Social Care in the Current Climate of Financial Constraint

Adult Health and Social Care faces huge changes as local authorities and health services struggle to meet the challenges of 'Putting People First' and the Government's Personalisation and Transformation Agenda. However, how can this be taken forward in the current contaxt of significant cuts in public funding? In this article, one of our consultants in Oakleigh Consulting (our parent company), Jo Potter reports on how a recent assignment has revealed areas of duplication which, if addressed, could meet the needs of both the Personalisation and Transformation Agenda and make more effective use of resources.

Dbi’s parent company, Oakleigh Consulting, has been awarded a place under two of the Lots of a recent BBC framework for consultancy services – one for IT and one for Change Management.

Oakleigh will be actively seeking to develop business with the BBC. They already have an established relationship with several areas in the Corporation and this will open up new opportunities for Dbi’s associates with experience particularly in broadcasting and multimedia.

Most multimedia is now created and distributed on IT platforms and programme makers are now having to appreciate the capabilities and limitations of the technology in all parts of the creation/distribution chain order to create compelling content. In addition, the Corporation is developing a major presence in Salford Quays in Manchester.

Associates with experience of working in the BBC, or with good contacts/insight please let us know by emailing consultants@dbiconsulting.co.uk.

The Ian Douglas Award

Well done to Austen Collinge, who has been awarded the Ian Douglas Award for 2009.

The Ian Douglas Award is given in honour of the memory of Ian Douglas, who was an exceptionally loyal and dedicated consultant, with a good sense of humour, who continued working for the company despite being terminally ill. Austen’s colleagues have nominated him for his outstanding commitment and contribution to Dbi throughout 2009.

Austen was presented with the award and a gift voucher, by Pat Coulter, Managing Director.

We would like to congratulate and thank him for all his hard work. Keep up the good work Austen.

Oakleigh get a mention in latest DCSF White Paper

Oakleigh are referenced in the DCSF’s latest white paper – “Investing for the future, protecting the front line: school funding 2010-2013”, March 2010 – attached - see section 4.18.

This stems from Oakleigh’s work with the National College where we have been evaluating the financial impact of schools working in collaboration or federation with other local schools and employing dedicated School Business Directors/Managers.

 ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Accreditation

Oakleigh Consulting Ltd and Dbi Consulting Ltd recognise that their activities have an environmental impact at the local, national and global levels. Even though we are working in the professional service industry, which does not have the potential for impact of other sectors, we acknowledge that even small contributions to the preservation of the environment are culmulative and are worth pursuing.  Therefore, Dbi has now gained certification through incorporation into Oakleigh's policy and procedures through QMS International plc of Norwich.
