PRINCE2 Training

Dbi Consulting Ltd is an accredited PRINCE2 training and consultancy services provider.

Why?

PRINCE2 is the government sponsored Project Management methodology, which has become the de facto standard within public sector organisations. It is now becoming widely used in the private sector.

Our trainers have a proven track record in managing projects and are skilled in the use of the PRINCE2 methodology. As well as being trainers they are active Project Management Consultants and have demonstrated an ability to create and maintain effective project teams committed and motivated to deliver the required products to the business.

What is it?

The methodology is suited to both IT and non-IT projects, of all sizes and degree of complexity. We recognise the importance of providing effective and timely training to meet the needs of managers and staff who will be involved with the implementation of PRINCE2.
We have developed a series of training courses that will give your staff the necessary awareness and competence.

How would I benefit?

PRINCE2 provides proven techniques and processes producing high quality products. This allows the opportunity to implement a standard methodology across all projects and, perhaps, unified project support facilities for all projects.

What does it involve?

The training options are:

  • PRINCE2 Awareness - This one-day seminar will provide all staff with a sound grounding in the components and products of PRINCE2
  • PRINCE2 for Project Boards - A one-day course for staff who are likely to be involved with PRINCE2 projects as Project Board members. It covers the Board's responsibilities and roles, the Board processes and the relationship between Projects and Programmes
  • PRINCE2 Foundation - A three-day course for staff who are likely to hold key positions within PRINCE2 Projects. It covers all the components, processes, techniques and products of the methodology. It leads to the formal PRINCE2 Foundation exam and certificate
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner - A two-day course for experienced project managers already holding (or who have just obtained) the Foundation certificate. It builds on the Foundation certificate and provides the opportunity to sit the Practitioner exam at the end of the second day.

When are the courses held?

Course dates for 2010 will be confirmed soon.

Where are they held?

"Very comprehensive and informative. Felt like a couple of points were rushed through due to time constraints. Overall, extremely useful and helpful."

"Pace was very fast but necessarily so. Sometimes made it difficult to follow, but it paid off in the end as there was an awful lot to fit in! All the handouts and manual are very helpful."

"Good course and content. Lots to take in in terms of pace but enjoyed it!"

"Andy was very knowledgeable, with lots of real life examples and a good understanding of the level at which to pitch his explanations. Three days of hard work, lots of personal challenge and at the same time quite enjoyable."

"The Foundation course was excellent, with an engaging and maintained interest throughout. He was happy to answer queries as they arose with practical examples and very encouraging."

"Andy was excellent and obviously extremely knowledgeable. Had enthusiasm for the subject and was very patient and thorough when answering our questions."

MSP Training

Dbi Consulting Ltd is an accredited training organisation for Managing Successful Programmes.

Why?

Today's working environment is more complex than ever before. The dynamics of business change mean that good project and programme management is increasingly a must-have in most organisations - public sector, private sector, defence, health, education and not-for-profit.

What is it?

Managing Successful Programmes is Dbi Consulting Ltd's course for middle and senior managers in the OGC's programme management methodology.

Dbi Consulting Ltd has been involved in Programme and Project Management for over 20 years, with widespread experience of the complexity of modern organisations. The course is presented in two modules leading to the coveted MSP Practitioner qualification, a qualification recognised both within the UK and abroad.

What does it involve?

We delivery the MSP syllabus in three "modules", aligned to the three levels of exam:

Module 1 covers the MSP "Foundation" syllabus. The course provides a general understanding of the fundamental principles of MSP based on the Guide. At the end of the Module, the candidate sits the Foundation exam.

Module 2 takes the candidate from Foundation level to the Practitioner level. The course provides a detailed understanding of the principles and theory of MSP, supported by practical application and a good general level of understanding of programme management. The Practitioner exam is sat at the end of the Module.

Module 3 is for more experienced programme managers, preparing the candidate to sit the Advanced Practitioner exam at the end of the module.

When is it?

Contact Ginette Langston on 01926 834700 for course dates and availability.

How much does it cost?

Module 1 is £995 including the MSP manual, preparation work, course material, examination fee, lunches and refreshments.

Module 2 is £995 including course material, the examination fees, lunches and refreshments.

Module 3 as this is a residential course, the price is available on application.

The prices exclude VAT. The Foundation and Practitioner modules are non-residential, and the Advanced Practitioner module is residential.

Class size is limited to a maximum of 12 delegates.

Is it for me?

The course is intended for experienced project or line managers looking to move into programme management, or who are already involved in programme management and seeking to formalise understanding. The Foundation level is appropriate for staff working within a programme environment that need to understand the overall terminology and architecture of programme management and to develop an awareness of programme management techniques. The Practitioner level is a qualification intended for programme managers, or for staff working closely with programme managers, such as Senior Responsible Owners, Programme Office managers, and Business Change Managers.

Recent feedback from candidates includes:

"My expectations were high, so to have met them is creditable, let alone exceeded them ... "

"The delivery was clear and activities were very engaging."

"This was generally a good experience.  The course was on the whole quite intense, but in a good way.  I feel I will have earned something worthwhile and I will attempt to implement some of what I have learnt."

For more information visit the MSP site at www.programmes.org.

Structure

All the modules involve a considerable degree of syndicate work and delegates should be comfortable about working with other course members in this way.

Prerequisites

The exams are challenging, and delegates will need to do some pre-course preparation before each module, as well as setting time aside for personal preparation and revision in the evenings of the course.

How long is it?

Module 1 is presented over 2½ days, and Module 2 over 3 days. Depending on scheduling, there are either 6 or 13 day breaks between the modules.

Where is it?

Public courses will take place at a conference facility close to our offices in Leamington Spa, easily accessed from the A5, M1 and M6. Company courses can be arranged at a location to suit you.

How do I book?

Contact Ginette Langston on 01926 834700 for course dates and availability.
